Definitions:

Atheism: There are thousands of religions in the world. All have been created by human beings and therefore all are works of fiction.
Agnosticism: Nobody knows whether there is a God or not. Science has no convincing answer to what caused the existence of the universe.
Humanism: A reliance on science and reason rather than revelation from a supernatural source to understand the world. Humanists tend to advocate for human rights, free speech, progressive policies, and democracy. People with a humanist worldview maintain religion is not a precondition of morality, and object to excessive religious entanglement with education and the state.

Linux Computing

It's surprising that Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating system is so popular when Linux is available. The reason can only be the aggressive commercial practices of MS during the early days of the development of the PC computer.

MS Windows is expensive, vulnerable to computer visuses, difficult to understand, and having paid for the use of it (without ever owning it), the user is then subject to continuous irritating invasions by marketing and advertising interruptions. The computer code of MS Windows is a trade secret; you might use it, but you never know the detail of what is in it. Also, it succeeds in giving the appearance of being quite disorganised, as though the system files, data files, software etc have all just been thrown into a box and mixed up.

Linux is free, logically organised, relatively easy to understand, and inherently resistant to computer viruses. It is extremely powerful. There are no trade secrets: the computer code of Linux is published for anyone to see.

Anything Microsoft can do, Linux can do, and often does better. Professional computing organisations, universities, etc usually use Linux not Microsoft. The Internet largely runs on Linux. The Android smartphone operating sysyem is a version of Linux.

We use Ubuntu, a UK Distribution "Distro" of Linux. The latest edition is published every six months, and is free.
